Pros

I've been working as a Partners Manager in the Professional Services department for a few months now, and I'm extremely satisfied with my experience at GitLab. The onboarding process is exceptional - everything is thoroughly documented and well-structured, which made my transition smooth and efficient. What really stands out is how GitLab's company culture and values aren't just written in their public handbook, but are genuinely lived and respected in daily operations. The people here are incredibly accessible and helpful. My manager is always available to support and guide me, which has been invaluable during these first months. The collaborative environment makes it easy to get help when needed and contribute meaningfully to the team. Work-life balance is outstanding - honestly couldn't ask for better. The full remote work setup is well-supported, with GitLab providing assistance for setting up your home office. They also offer coworking space options if you need or prefer them, showing real flexibility in how you work best. The compensation is very competitive, and the company genuinely invests in employee success and comfort.

Cons

Still early in my tenure, but haven't encountered any significant issues yet.

Pros

OK pay or benefits in the market. Fully remote. Still is trying to frame itself as a big player.

Cons

Leadership went from being collaborative, communicative, and transparent, to being mercurial, secretive, and out of touch with the actual work. OBSESSSES over your AI usage metrics - even if AI doesn't help you and slows you down. The current layoff in progress was communicated poorly and not planned at all. And now they want us to adore the leaders and the company? Cultish vibes. We went from a company that plans ahead to a company that reacts.
