Pros

Beautiful building with tons of sunlight and great views. Cafeteria is great, gym in the building is amazing, good full benefits, generally a pleasant atmosphere to work in a nice area with good food options. Work day starts at 10am, which is nice.

Cons

Publishing is a tough industry where it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Every year there are more cuts and layoffs. If someone leaves, the job never gets filled....the work just gets redistributed. It can feel like you're juggling way too much at times because you're doing the work of multiple people. Pay is not so great, and upward mobility is difficult. Good to work for a couple years, but hard to stay long term because it doesn't seem to be getting any better. For example, holiday parties were canceled this year. Employees often feel nickled and dimed and expected to work late for no overtime.

Pros

Well-organized and good communication. As a contractor, I found Hearst to be a pleasure to work with.

Cons

I don't have any cons to report other than that the accounts payable is out of North Carolina and can take 60 days to receive payment.
