Pros

Hearst has an excellent benefit package and good, solid guidelines to protect employees from harassment, ect., in the work place. Hearst also has a good reputation as a news leader.

Cons

Salaries are not fair for all employees, they are chosen on a person-to-person basis and are extremely low in comparison to other newspapers in the area I work. A journalist at a local weekly tabloid makes more than I do as a lower level editor at the largest daily paper in the area.

Pros

I love working at Hearst in the Baltimore, Maryland market. I have worked for many radio stations over the past nearly 40 years and this is one of the best companies as far as working environment. I really feel cared for here.

Cons

On a personal level, I've had a hard time getting full time employment within the company, which is discouraging. Also, it takes forever for management to make hiring decisions.
