Pros

Varied work. Opportunity to learn new things. Some innovative software solutions. Ambitious growth plans. Hardworking employees who help each other. Flexibility to work remotely (it saves office costs for IRIS too)!

Cons

Lack of streamlined processes- Legacy processes of a small-size company that are no longer fit for purpose for this mid-size corporate, continuous stream of new acquisitions with no time to assimilate them and ever-evolving rules cause daily work stress. Shambolic systems- This software company has no comprehensive ERP/ financial system or a common database. We work with Excel sheets and spend half the time searching for data on individual laptops or copying and pasting data into Excel files! Add to this mix, different financial systems of the acquired companies and you can imagine the wonderful chaos! To solve this, we have an army of finance people. But everyone in Finance is overworked due to system and process challenges and ever-changing landscape. Excessive workload and unrealistic demands of management. Attrition is very high. There is no time to train new comers and they are put into the fire from day one. No appreciation of these issues by senior management, who are keen to just save costs, maximise profit and increase the valuation of the company for a possible sale (?) You get a feeling of being used, especially in the Finance department at IRIS, like a slave in a galley ship!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, although we are surprised and disappointed by your comments. We are very proud to have heavily invested in our world-class Quantum project to streamline our systems and processes. Quantum replaces isolated processes across our business with a fully integrated set of systems that can provide a better customer experience, maximise cross-sell opportunities, and a dedicated Finance system to support financial reporting and activities across the business. To help ease our staff’s workload we’ve welcomed new employees, brought in additional resources, and hired senior management to direct and lead change in this area. Our strategies are continually shaped by our employees’ views and expertise. We encourage all our employees to share their feedback in our monthly employee surveys (Peakon), various dedicated inboxes, and our annual Great Place to Work survey. We also are proud to have 35 Employee Voice Ambassadors (EVAs) across several departments, including 5 representatives in Finance and Legal. These ambassadors are a great way for your team’s collective voices to be channelled to senior leaders and our Executive Team who can collate feedback and implement positive change and further improve engagement. Our EVAs are given dedicated training on how to interpret and action Peakon feedback, facilitate meetings and lead with empathy. We are also delighted to reward and support our employees, from our weekly Thank You Thursdays to encourage teams to recognise each other, our CEO shout outs to our #IRISHeros each week, our IMPACT Awards, Top Talent Awards and generous benefits package, we aim to show everyone how much they mean to us. We care deeply about our employees' wellbeing and mental health and are extremely proud to have been recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces™ for Wellbeing. We have a range of wellbeing resources and support networks, such as our incredible Mental Health First Aiders, our Belonging Champions, daily wellbeing nudges, our weekly workplace support group, company-funded access to talking therapies, wellbeing apps, an Employee Assistance Program, and Mindfulness training. We also have a dedicated Wellbeing intranet page where employees can access all of these resources and find specific and tailored support. We’re always looking for ways we can be the best we can be, and we would welcome any further suggestions. Please speak to your HR representative or leave a comment in our next Peakon survey. Kind regards, the HR team.

Pros

I have been with Iris for approximately 5 months and have been incredibly impressed. The people I work with from my peers, leadership (including executive leadership) and my team, are amazing. Building relationships has been easy as most of the employees are open to it, are very collaborative and genuinely want to help! Iris is also focused on equality and ensure we all have a fair opportunity for growth. While we have a lot to do here, it is clear that we are valued.

Cons

As a rapidly growing organization, we have some growing pains and some foundational processes, systems and flow that need to be updated and/or adjusted, but nothing that won't be fixed over time.
