To sum up the marketing department - there was no real change even after years of talking about change. Leadership is indecisive, constantly took in too many opinions, and makes NO action towards actually progressing the department to meet the demands of the market or the organization. They also were flip-floppers, constantly changing their thoughts and opinions based on the day. Leadership at the top is too focused on saving face with executive leadership. They also always try to look like they are doing something, rather than setting a clear direction so the team can actually do positive, effective work. Leadership doesn't trust the team members in the department and try to do too much themselves, and they are failing. The department (if my count is right), has lost over 20 well qualified people over the last year due to poor leadership and direction. Leaving behind lifers, or those who are unmotivated and are just going through the motions. If you want to use your skills and talents, learn and grow, this is not the place for you. You'll feel stifled, exhausted, burned out and regret your time at IHC. Much like the website, this organization is clunky, bloated, and really doesn't get the job done.
I'd avoid this team like COVID-19. They will sell you in your interview like it is all dandelions and roses, but really it is the trash bags on the streets of New York City.
Other things to note:
- No direction
- No project management
- TERRIBLE work/life balance
- Miserable department leadership who is ALL talk, and little action
- The CMO doesn't really have a marketing background, more consumer experience
- Lots of office politics
- Have a lot of ineffective team members who can't be held accountable
- Unclear goals & objectives
- Way too focused on PR, rather then REAL marketing
