Pros
I have been working for 6 years at Management Solutions, for one of the functions that supports the Consulting teams around the world. As pros, I would highlight: 1. Opportunity for international experience. I was able to move with my family to a different country, and work from there supporting operations for the Group around the world. 2. Flexibility and good work / life balance. The company makes every effort to give the flexibility required and to allow parents to progress in their professional career whilst having a family. It has always been supportive and understanding when I needed it. 3. Consultants and the staff of the support functions come from multiple academic backgrounds and from a lot of different nationalities, which creates an exciting work atmosphere. 4. The whole company acts as “one team”. My network of colleagues are located in the US, UK, Continental Europe and Latin America alike, but we share the same standards, work approach and commitment, and are in constant communication to ensure that the front line teams are able to do their work in the best possible way.
Cons
If I had to highlight one aspect to bear in mind, it would be the pace of work. You have to be ready to adapt quickly and learn new things in a short time. Given the strong expansion of the company across geographies, sectors and type of engagement models with its clients, it means that you are always facing new challenges, adaptation to new regulations and new ways of doing in order to make sure that the business can continue. For a supporting function, it means high pace of delivery, which can be very demanding at times. Though at the same time it provides a great deal of intellectual challenge.
