Pros

Many of the people who work at MQ are smart & fun. Pay is average to high and benefits are above average for this industry. Downtown Denver location is a big plus.

Cons

-Frequent layoffs create an atmosphere of career Russian roulette. -Scapegoats are chosen to take the blame for failed projects regardless of their actual role or decision-making abilities. -Upper-management believes that employees are a problem and control employees through fear (thus the frequent layoffs). -Goals of projects are often stated as "make the experience better", but the real goal is "make more money". The real and stated goals are often at odds and make it impossible to succeed since both are not often possible. -Bullies and Yes-men are given promotions regardless of talent. Credit is often withheld from those who actually make a difference.

Pros

Enormous amount of work but well worth the learning experience and considerate, polite, helpful people involved in the lifecycle.

Pros

All the people actually care and work hard for a common goal. There is no judgment on what you wear or how you look, people respect you for the work you do here. Unlimited snacks, beer, and drinks are definitely a plus. The location is great (center of downtown Denver). I've worked full time and contracted for several companies in Denver and actually did a 6 month contract in the past with MapQuest. When I decided to go back to full time I had several options (Denver is very tech heavy now and a lot of jobs), overall I loved working at MapQuest and chose them. I am very happy with my decision. My hiring process was very quick compared to others (less than a week to get an offer). All the managers and PMs here are also very nice and actually a pleasure to talk to.

Cons

Sometimes it's hard to see the forecast of the work down the road and company's direction but you can tell management is trying to get better at it. Not to much else to complain about honestly, there's issues here or there but every job will have those and compared to others MapQuest is definitely one of the better ones.
