There are great, bright people here. They are resourceful and knows how to navigate the organization. They embody the ‘Maxis way’. These are the people you can build a strong career relationship with and can help you in the next step of your career. The benefits here are also pretty good. Make sure you negotiate for a good salary because you’ll be sticking with that for awhile. Promotions and increments are far and few.
Cons
Speaking of the Maxis Way, prepare to be slugging it out for long hours and loads of meetings. You would have to be extremely agile but work with cold non agile people. Processes here are very old fashion, so as the hierarchy. There are people who’s roles are to literally gatekeep and prolong processes. Unfortunately this will affect time sensitive product launches and campaigns. The skills you pick up here are only relevant to Maxis. Create slides only to please bosses, get involved in the politics, learn processes that will be irrelevant to your career. That’s 90% of your time here. You can survive but you won’t grow. People here gets comfortable and remain in the same role for years. The culture here is so counterintuitive. On paper it’s about speaking out and taking initiatives. But in reality it’s all about ‘agreeing with the boss’ and ‘playing it safe’
