A gilded cage worth nesting in, if you can stomach under-apppreciation. - Lead Systems Analyst Merck Employee Review

Pros

Benefits and salary are superior to other companies, work-life balance is respected, generous time off and sick leave

Cons

Technical ability is not valued as a desired competency, viewed as a commodity. As such, there is a glass ceiling for very technical people who wish to lead technical efforts. Everything is focused around "project management" skills which, ironically, are more-easily outsourced. Also, Carrie Cox's remarkable timing of share selling should be investigated, and Bob Bertolini is turning out to be nothing more than a hatchet man. All signs point to a prep job for a merger or sell.

Pros

Work from home (that may not always be a perk, but it is now for writers), choice of flexible hours (7 AM - 9 AM starting), friendly, helpful people, great bosses, people very interested in their jobs, plus a lot of educational benefits, you are trained on all aspects of Merck and your job.

Cons

I cannot think of any, though sometimes work from home has its drawbacks, because the employee doesn't get all the information that an onsite employee would.
