Pros

Direct team is a joy to work with, benefits are okay and short drive.

Cons

The pay is on the low side of the scale and the pay increases doesn't match the yearly cost of living. At a town hall meeting it's was told to us why certain things couldn't be done (couldn't afford it) all while waving around a huge fancy ring. Such a slap in the face and proof that they don't care unless it affects them. I don't think none of upper leadership will give up any part of their bonus or pay to provide a real pay increase to the employees who most are struggling to make ends meet, living pay check to pay check and can't afford to miss any hours. I've read a few of the responses about pay increases. They always say it's competitive for the area or want the you to stick it out for a raise which are very small or try to suggest something other than working on giving better pay at the mid to upper end of the scale. Leadership doesn't listen or get input from the employees who actually handles the daily work before making changes in the department. They are quick to blame the employees, when the staff mirrors management (fish stick from the head down). The confusion, misinformation, inconsistent and lack of communication is so wide spread among the leadership, it causes chaos and cause employees to leave. Everyone is kinda winging it and incompetence is very noticeable.

Pros

Coming from a smaller size hospital but big company like Methodist and known high paying hospital in DFW, I needed more shifts. Since MDMC is bigger than my other PRN, I have higher chance of getting shifts because there are more monitoring stations, more staff taking PTOs, higher chance of staff calling out sick and therefore opening the shift, etc.

Cons

More workload and higher census! Almost 50 patients on heart monitor per station.

We're glad to hear that the flexibility and availability of shifts have been a benefit for you. As one of the region's largest health systems, Methodist offers opportunities that can help PRN team members find the schedule that works best for them. We also recognize that higher patient volumes and workload expectations can come with working in a busy, high-acuity environment. Supporting our team members remains a priority, and we continually evaluate our compensation programs and workplace resources to remain competitive and help our employees succeed. Thank you for the important role you play in caring for our patients and for being a valued member of the Methodist family.
