Pros

Stay if you are already in retiring age, or you don't want to develop your career.

Cons

Working as principal engineer at Microchip for 3 years by far, I have to say this company is a dirt cheap place for working, which is the real company culture, no matter what it says on its website. Microchip claimed that the biggest strength is its employee, however, it treats its employee awful, such as very low pay, few salary increase, joking 401k plan, etc. This is definitely not the right place where you can develop career skills in a long term view since its technology (both Analog and MCU) is far behind its competitors. Most of the principal engineers and managers idle away their time, and many motivated engineers keep jumping to the other leading technology companies for much higher salary, way better benefits, wider career developments, etc. To be honest, after staying for just a couple years, you may lose your motivation. After staying more than 7 or 8 years, you may lose your technical ability to jump for another good job. And, finally, if your expertise is in the field of Analog, please stay away from this place!

Pros

There are a handful of people here who are fantastic to work with, are very knowledgeable, and care about the product that's going out the door.

Cons

Leadership is fundamentally out of touch and appears indifferent to employee well-being. The culture is marred by nepotism and a lack of accountability, where 'guiding values' are preached but never practiced. Feedback is discouraged, and those who speak up are often targeted. Expect a 'reward' of more work for the same pay, as promotions are rare and promised bonuses are frequently withheld despite strong site performance. A very frustrating and toxic environment for those who value merit and transparency.
