Pros

Steady pay with an office, no medicare or insurance battles, good health insurance, great paid time off, a stable career choice. Lots of areas to work, easy to transfer to another area within the company. The annual CE and company celebration is enjoyable and paid for. Huge growth potential of the company. Upper management is always receptive and works hard.

Cons

Non-motivating bonus structure, holidays are funky (some float, or they're not paid if it's your day off), the 401(k) needs a much better match (6% would be great) and to be made safe-harbor so everyone can contribute, the patient flow can be clumpy in some stores with >6 per hour depending on the store manager, and there is no ability to manage glaucoma or work with specialty contact lenses. No paid maternity leave even for doctors. Other staff is paid a very low amount which is a depressing work environment to be in every day. My receptionist is on food stamps, others are losing their cars or getting evicted form their apartment because they can't afford rent.

Pros

Pretty easy work Company is modernizing Friendly environment Most patients are delightful

Cons

They used to be closed on Sunday, but now that's changed Store budgets are divided up between stores in the same district by the DM, which lends itself to favoritism when stores are given their monthly goals If you are the only LDO, you may end up working a LOT until you are able to find a second LDO
