NI was always a mess. Took a turn for worse as Soundwide - Engineer Native Instruments Employee Review

Pros

- despite all the critical points, NI is still selling good products used by music producers around the world - (less and less) positive team culture on the individual contributor level incl. a few middle management layers - good experience working "hybrid" from home and sometimes in the office - industry benefits and free software if you make music yourself

Cons

- private equity investor takeover and merger into MCG/Soundwide went terrible, pushed the company into an existential crisis - Struggling to find direction and innovate in a very competitive, dynamic market - Global Executive group (legacy management and new outside "talent" picked by investor) was disconnected from the company until it collapsed - HR promised salary benchmarking over 2 years ago, and we are still waiting. Not paying competitive salaries in Berlin, resulting in talent churn and slow hiring - downscaling and layoffs

Pros

Super cool environment and amazing products that are easy to sell, cause who doesn't love music!

Cons

A lot of miscommunication and groupthink can make marketing projects spiral when they could have been more efficient by just meeting sooner.
