Pros
Prior to the acquisition by CNOOC Ltd., Nexen was a really interesting company to work for. Good salary and benefits, decent career opportunities, and a welcoming environment. My time there was fairly straight forward. I would probably worked there until I hit retirement.
Cons
After the acquisition, the company seemed to lose its direction, especially in the US. Due to govt. regulations, all US operations were sold and the accompanying employees either shifted to the new companies or laid off. This led to more and more layoffs. Not sure where they are now, but I believe they are still trying to find their way.
