Pros

The opportunities for education and training are plentiful and encouraged for all levels of staff. Managerial benefits were generous and appreciated. Constant growth and plans for the future infected the employees with optimism. During good economic times there is no better place to work in healthcare Atlanta market. Administration friendly and open to ideas. Terrific non-profit organization.

Cons

As a non-profit, the economic recession of 2008 hit Northside hard and there were many rounds of layoffs for a two year period--through early 2011. Clinical staff was kept of course, but hundreds of long term employees including Directors and Managers in non-clinical roles lost their jobs. Positions were eliminated and those job duties spread to other existing lower paid staff members.

Pros

I have been privileged to work for Northside Hospital for the past five years, and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. During my tenure, I have benefited from the organization's commitment to employee growth through its annual internal promotion policy, which has allowed me to advance within my current department. One of the aspects I value most is Northside's support for work-life balance and professional development. While working here, I was able to begin my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program from the ground up and am on track to graduate in December 2026. The flexibility and encouragement provided by the organization have played a significant role in helping me pursue my educational goals while continuing to contribute as an employee. I was a full-time employee for most of my career with the organization and recently transitioned to part-time status to accommodate the increased demands of my nursing program. The support and understanding shown by management throughout this process have reinforced my appreciation for the company's employee-centered culture. I am grateful for the opportunities, professional growth, and support I have received over the past five years.

Cons

None that I can think of right now
