Pros

You are helping people who are less fortunate. It can be a great feeling to know you are making a difference in someone's life.

Cons

This company takes advantage of young college grads by overworking and underpaying. Even worse, they promote a toxic culture by enabling managers to "motivate" employees using fear, intimidation and verbal abuse. I brought up my concerns to upper management and they were brushed aside. Abusive culture.

Pros

When I left, OSH was making a few good strides forward. There was a hybrid workspace, they had just started a DEI&B program, and most of the office people were happy in their roles.

Cons

I worked in an office with a lot of very young people, folks who were just out of college, beginning their careers. It was an interesting environment, but there was always the sense that the door was constantly revolving. People did not stay more than a year or so. The fact that I was there more than 2 years was a miracle. While I was there, there was also an "us vs. them" mentality when it came to the caregivers we supported. I would see staffing coordinators send out emails and tests full of money emojis to beg caregivers to pick up shifts. Our average pay for a caregiver was less than $9 an hour. The benefits for caregivers were horrible, just barely legal under the ACA. I felt as if I was making more money for the organization on the backs of people (mostly women of color) who were barely making ends meet. I had to leave because I could not ethically participate in the subjugation of black women for profit anymore.
