I worked at Panera Bread part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Worked very well with school schedules and days off, made sure you were commended appropriately for your efforts, great employee discount, gave you as many hours as your asked for, everything was clear, cut, and dry - nothing to overthink or worry that you're doing wrong, Bread Bashes were a lot of fun, managers try to make it a fun environment for everyone.

Cons

Managers were sometimes too lax, customers can be unruly, irritable, and extremely arrogant and attitudinal (I've only noticed this at Panera, no other places), the management system tend to use veteran employees as free trainers, which wasn't very fair to me, only a 10 cent increase after a year, was also promised a small pay increase for each new "module" I was trained in. I was trained in almost every module, and still saw no pay increases.

Advice to Management

Employees shouldn't have to hunt down their pay increases. Other than that, you guys hire some awesome managers.

I have been working at Panera Bread part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fast paced work environment
    Discount on food
    Opportunity to learn different "modules"

    Cons

Unreliable co-workers. They call in, and if you know how to do their job, management will ask you to do double duty.

    Dirty (depending on store)

Stingy when it comes to paying their employees

Horrible "training" program. Once you have your three modules, management basically forgets about you.

    Advice to Management

For your employees who want to learn, let them learn! Train them properly, and pay them accordingly.

    Pros

Good atmosphere, higher status than most food industry jobs, respectable company.

    Cons

Very young management, no benefits, many things can vary depending on franchise owner.

    Advice to Management

Don't skirt simple OSHA rules and regulations, stay humble, remember that every employee counts.
