Pros

Good work life balance. They encourage employee participation in building out the company's internal processes, marketing material, etc., which provides an opportunity to be part of "building" the company. PL has been recognized as a "best place to work" in the Bay Area for years; however, their rank has been dropping over the past few.

Cons

Actively laying consultants off due to a lack of work. Attrition (outside of layoffs) also seems high, particularly for a small company. The leadership team has been evolving, and the company seems to have lost some of its prior attraction to both employees and clients.

Thank you very much for your review and sharing your comments with us. We appreciate your positive feedback on our work life balance and positive employee participation in our growth. We strive to be more than just a job and really look for opportunities to encourage our employees to actively participate in our growth. We believe that participation is beneficial for both Primitive Logic and the employee. We are also very proud to have been ranked on the SF Times Best Places to Work list since 2007. We have been ranked #1 three times and have been in the top 5 for several other years. While it is difficult to continue to place in the top 5 every year, we are very proud that we have remained in the top 20 every year since 2007 and places at #10 this year. You are correct that we need to change in order to break through. We nearly doubled in size from where we were 2 years ago, and that growth necessitates change. We have spent the past 6 months actively with our management team to evolve our areas of expertise and solutions. We have also recently changed our organization structure and hired 2 new sales people in the past year in order to further enable this growth. As we have evolved our solutions and focus areas, we did make some difficult decision as we assess whether our employees had the right skills to continue with us going forward. We are not actively laying anyone off and in the past 3 months, we have hired 6 new people whose skills match our new direction. We also signed on 4 new clients in the past 2 months and have a very strong sales pipeline. We shared our new direction and changes with everyone at our Company Meeting last week, and I think everyone is very excited about our direction and our future. We thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback, and we wish you the best of luck.

Pros

Small company that truly understands the challenges of the modern professional balancing work and life. Sensitive and respects people for time off, even on short notice. Technology competency is broad, allowing employees to grow and expand their professional skills. We recognize the need to diversify into offering services geared towards the business. Leadership team understands what needs to be done to meet tactical objectives. When we need to come together and solve a problem, we tend to succeed. When Bob gets involved, things get done. During this current recession, we appear to be doing reasonable well. We seemed to have found our groove for sales and the types of clients to go after.

Cons

Being a small company, we have very little in the way of training. Our budgets are tight, so many things that one would take for granted, are not at PL. Creature comforts, a modern website, dressed-up office are lacking. We are not strategic enough, and are always fighting fires. Tend to have knee-jerk reactions, running from "one side of the ship to the other" whenever it seems the wind changes. The really skilled senior people are stretched way to thin and over-worked. These individuals carry the company and often making up for less skilled or senior resources. We have been bouncing within a range revenue wise and not sure that will change anytime soon.
