Pros

Honestly I can't remember many pros. I guess we had flexible hours and pretty good health benefits but that isn't too rare these days.

Cons

My experience at RCIS was extremely negative. It started out bad when on my first day, I had no equipment and no directive of what to do. The company culture was absolutely nonexistent. I hear that the parent company Zurich has a pretty great culture but unfortunately, RCIS doesn't believe in that. Since this job was remote, outside of the 2 meetings I had per week, I spent the most of my time alone and speaking to no one. In the 6 months I worked there, I did not have one meeting or speak to one person outside of my department. My manager did not take any action to assimilate me into the company and meet other people. It was basically just, "here's your work, get it done by this date." Around the 3 month mark, someone from my team was promoted and became my manager and from there, it went completely downhill. She micromanaged everything and created an extremely toxic work environment. She did not trust anyone on her team to have any type of responsibility and went as far as creating schedules for everyone on the team that told us what we should work on everyday for the next 3 months. I know that some people might thrive with that type of rigid structure but I found it to be very suffocating and toxic, especially considering that we were a design team and sometimes it's hard to predict how long something will take. In addition to this, she would make passive aggressive comments and it felt like she wanted to see me fail. I do not blame all of this behavior on the manager, I blame RCIS for promoting someone without providing management training.
