Pros

The pros working for R.H. are few and by "few" I mean two. 1. Beautiful Product, design and style 2. Pay was decent/good.

Cons

Cons: Everything else about the company.... Let's start with the "core values" that the company proudly preaches and stands behind. Their core values are: People, Quality, Service and Innovation. They use these "values" against their employees during review time or when enforcing policy or correcting performance but not to actually create a healthy store environment or support the employee working experience. They have created a cult-like company culture that is highly excluding/discriminatory to many good, qualified and talented employees both potential employees through an overly drawn out hiring process and to current employees that don't "fit in" with their core values. One of the company slogans is "there's no school for cool" in their words in an employee handout, "there's no school for cool: either you're cool or you're not, we don't teach cool..." The idea of an inclusive workplace does not exist at R.H. Next would be absolutely no work-life balance. Salaried managers are expected to work as many hours as needed to cover the store. This becomes especially ridiculous when they allow the store to fall well below management census sometimes having only 2 managers employed in one store for several months at a time. Expect to work 60-70 hours easily if you are salaried. Lastly this company is an H.R. nightmare. Policy is subjective and favoritism is common. Disciplinary action is inconsistent at best.

Pros

One of the strongest aspects of this role is the autonomy. I’m trusted to make decisions that genuinely support the customer experience without constant approval from leadership. If I believe an exchange plus a $250 gift card is the right solution to preserve a relationship, I’m empowered to do that. That level of trust creates confidence and allows us to move quickly when issues arise. Leadership is accessible when needed, especially in escalated situations. I’ve never felt left alone to manage something beyond my scope. There is also regular voluntary overtime available, which is a plus for those looking to increase their hours. For someone transitioning from another industry, the environment feels more structured and brand-focused, which has been refreshing

Cons

The clientele can be challenging. Some customers assume that spending thousands of dollars entitles them to treat frontline employees disrespectfully, even when those employees had no involvement in the original issue. It can also be frustrating to hold a boundary with a customer, only to see it reversed after escalation. While I understand the desire to preserve relationships, it can unintentionally undermine employee confidence and consistency in standards. Because RH carries so many collections and product variations, the learning curve is steep. Customers often expect immediate, detailed product knowledge, which takes time to develop.
