I have been working at RH full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The offices are beautiful and overall compensation seems fair in the industry.

    Cons

The company is performing great but lower and mid-level employees don't reap the benefits. Understand that one of the company's core values is "Love us or leave us" and that about sums up their employee retention plan. While they taunt that the company has higher than industry-standard operating margin, it's at the expense of limiting employee stock to high-level employees, no 401-K matching and a fairly modest bonus structure.

"Everything you read on Glassdoor is true"

    3.0
Former Employee - Leader in Corte Madera, CA
    Disapproves of CEO

    I worked at RH full-time

    Pros

Plenty of great co-workers and opportunities to learn—you'll be encouraged to approach problems in a new way. It's a lovely office, and the relative transparency with where the company is going makes it easy to feel engaged.

    Cons

Reviews that call RH a cult are true, as are the reviews that rave about the place. It's all of those things. Your experience will depend on who you are and what you're looking for. The people who seem to do best at RH are the ones who are always available, who can navigate the culture that is overtly made in the image of the CEO (which is to say, who parrot whatever the CEO says as if they said it themselves), who can recite every word of the vision, values, and beliefs, and who are comfortable wielding influence through fear. If you are invigorated by long hours, values meetings, and publicly pledging allegiance to Gary Friedman (and all of those things are OK if that's for you), you'll do well at RH. If you like stability, to have at least a general sense of what is going to happen tomorrow, space to speak freely without being immediately shut down, and going home at a reasonable hour without worry that you're going to receive untold number of texts and emails while you are with your family (and all of those things are OK if that's for you), RH is not for you.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at RH full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The office is very nice (looks like a gallery inside) and free snacks at 3pm. Pay seems to be above average.

    Cons

Most of the negative reviews on here are true in my experience. The culture is very hard to navigate and can be cliquey at times. Worked long hours frequently and leaders/SVPs freqeuntly sent "urgent" emails, texts, and phone calls outside of normal work hours. There was no work/life balance and most people seemed overwhelmed with the amount of work they had since teams are so lean and lack of support. They also don't match 401ks. I could go on but overall I got burnt out from the toxic work environment and negative energy. I would advise you to find work elsewhere.

    Pros

I would recommend this position for anyone just starting out. You will be given structure, training and will have the opportunity to help with some cool projects.

    Cons

They pay is not very competitive and if you’re located in a mall you will have to adhere to “mall hours”. Not much room to grow into a career unless you’re looking to stay in retail.
