Pros

Kind of stable although 2-5% lay off each year (GE model). Pay is average and nothing extra. Decade ago had better employer incentives but as it grew the top management kept more and left less for those below!

Cons

Lots of agendas and different groups being acquired in short period of time that want to solidify their position in the company causing conflicts (growing pain I guess).

Hmm. This review is extremely inaccurate in several ways. We don’t follow the GE model and absolutely don’t have a big layoff every year. We have reorganized a few times in the last decade for different reasons, but that’s not the same thing at all. Where this reviewer got information about top management pay outstripping and taking away from the rest of the company I have no idea, but it’s wildly untrue. On top of that, I personally intentionally live a very modest lifestyle, live in a 2500 sq ft house and own a Mazda at home. All the profits go back into Ross and have for 43 years. That’s a big part of our success. Let’s try not to make things up and then post them publicly please. Thanks, David Ross

Thanks for the 5 star review! You made me laugh with one of the Cons being "Hard to leave once you've worked here" - nice Easter Egg in the review! :-) On the stock side, I would like to highlight that we're an ESOP company (Employee Stock Ownership Program) and every year employees can buy and sell Ross stock. The stock price is tied to financial performance and since we started the ESOP in 2009 the stock price is up 10x. I know the request is for stock grants - my position has been to pay people well and let them invest in Ross stock if they want, or anything else otherwise. Note that we are still a private company so stock is less liquid than in a public company so we need to be careful to ensure owning Ross stock is a good experience, but often a longer term experience. I hope that makes sense! Come see me if you want to discuss this further. - David Ross

Pros

Great environment, room for growth, acceptance, amazing managerial support, benefits, a work/life balance, and so much respect among all colleagues and even the CEO. Yes, David Ross IS as nice as he seems all the time and makes himself available and genuinely wants to answer any concerns we have. He constantly wants to know if we are happy and he is very transparent about any business information. Overall, always a good vibe and everyone is always willing to work together no matter the department,

Cons

Could have more easily accessible ways to obtain further knowledge, train within and grow your career.
