Pros

Strong international brand name that adds value to your CV. Central Budapest office location. Home office model is attractive on paper for recruitment purposes.

Cons

Compensation and transparency Salary increases consistently fail to keep pace with inflation – even in a year of double-digit or 5-6 % inflation, employees received 1-2% raises. This is communicated as if performance-related, creating a false impression that you are underperforming. In reality, the Hungarian subsidiary transfers 100% of its annual profit as dividend to the parent company – leaving nothing for meaningful wage development. Meanwhile, the parent company acquires real estate in Vienna. Employees are effectively funding corporate investments. Understaffing Headcount is continuously reduced while workload grows. Tasks previously handled by two people are routinely assigned to one. Overtime accumulates with no structural solution in sight. Professional development Non-existent in practice. Development plans are requested annually during performance reviews and never delivered. Experienced professionals plateau early and stay plateaued – 10 years in the same position is not unusual. There is no honest feedback culture; critical input is discouraged. Management style Control-oriented rather than support-oriented. Micromanagement is the norm. Managers focus on administrative oversight rather than providing professional guidance or developing their teams. Senior expertise is consistently underutilized. Perhaps most telling: since handing in my resignation, managers have visibly avoided any meaningful interaction – unless they needed IT support or process automation help, which I have also been providing informally for years. Not a single manager approached me to ask why I was leaving, despite managing a top-tier client portfolio to everyone's satisfaction for over a decade. This speaks volumes about the leadership culture. Basic working conditions Daily rest breaks – a legal occupational health requirement – have been restricted in practice. This is a minor but telling detail about how the organization views its employees. Turnover Alarmingly high and accelerating. Experienced senior professionals leave regularly, taking years of institutional knowledge with them. The pattern is well established and shows no sign of improvement.
