Pros

Some of the people there were nice and cared about you. Due to a high turnover rate, it is relatively easy to get a job here. It is a good place to get some experience before moving to a better company. Benefits are good (if you are able to secure a full-time position), pay is decent.

Cons

SWCA is unable to retain its best employees due to poor management and toxic work environment. Managers from the bottom to top of the company have little to no business acumen and are therefor unable to lead effectively. Motivation within the company is nonexistent. Employees doing the same job will often not be paid the same rate. There is little significance or variety in the tasks being completed, there is no developmental feedback, there are no goals set, there is no definition of the roles people play. There is no formal training for any position, so employees will often be asked to complete tasks without being provided the necessary tools to be successful.

Pros

Plenty of professional development opportunities - only if you’re in good with the director. Regional staff and technical teams are great, but the marketing department is toxic. Decent benefits.

Cons

The establish processes are inflexible and if you don’t follow procedure, you’ll quickly find yourself on PIP. The director is a little unhinged and you’ll need to suck up. Most people don’t make it to two years so there is high turn over. The bottom line is always the biggest factor and if they feel that overhead is too high, any perks are eliminated. Since all employees are remote, if you don’t live near an office, you’ll find yourself at a huge disadvantage professionally - zero face time with any leadership. Prepare to find busy work, all time is recorded in 15 minute intervals which is overkill for overhead roles.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate hearing from both current and former employees. We’re glad to hear you found value in the professional development opportunities and in working with the regional and technical teams. At the same time, we’re sorry to hear that parts of your experience with processes, communication, and team culture were frustrating. Feedback like this is important and helps inform how we continue to improve. We would welcome the opportunity to hear more about your experience and encourage you to reach out to us directly at HR-confidential@swca.com to share additional details.
