Pros
You get benefits. They train you and pay you for your training, which includes the CGSB and First Aid. They cover your expenses for getting your Security Guard License and renewing it. There is a union and you get benefits.
Cons
Low wages. Some sites are better than others. I've worked on sites where you're on duty for 12 hours and nobody will come give you breaks. I've worked on sites where the breaks are fine. They'll just use you until you run out of ink, then replace you with the next person. If you're an immigrant, which most security guards are, and you happen to not know your rights under the labour act, some supervisors and managers will take advantage of that. It was done to me and many people I knew.
