Pros

It pays reasonably well compared to other SE Asian places. There are reasons for this though... The campsite is in a nice natural environment, with plenty of wildlife, such as hornbills, monkeys, snakes and otters, to be spotted right outside your front door.

Cons

A very nasty working culture, with strong overtones of nepotism, racism and religious discrimination. Only muslim Malays really benefit from this company. Any criticism of management is dealt with in revenge, either in staff evaluations or job assignments. Brunei is also radicalising in a religious way nowadays, with rules around ramadan and alcohol consumption for foreigners now approaching those of Saudi Arabia.

Pros

Early career engineers are given significant ownership and exposure to complex operational challenges. Strong focus on safety, technical development, and collaboration across disciplines. Opportunities to work on high-impact projects, interact with senior leadership, and contribute to decisions affecting major assets and infrastructure.

Cons

Workloads can be demanding, and priorities can shift quickly based on operational needs. Decision-making processes can be slow due to organizational complexity, and geographic mobility may be necessary for certain career opportunities.
