Pros

1. Work-life balance & amazing culture. Truly respectful and supportive environment, which encourages and enables a work-life balance. Good non-monetary benefits: hybrid-work, reasonable PTO, daycare, reproductive leaves, maternity/paternity leaves, etc. 2. Structured development plans for career progression and transparent performance evaluations. 3. Management invests time and effort into resource upskilling, especially for younger talent.

Cons

1. Slow to adapt to change. Shell tends to take a risk-averse approach to industry trends. Bringing in new technology or workflows requires a very "bureaucratic" approvals process. 2. Frequent restructuring. Although they prioritize retaining existing employees, still affects job security when the number of roles is reduced. 3. Certain roles & functions can be limiting in terms of restricted and static responsibilities. This also means your technical skills may fall behind industry peers in other companies.

Pros

Early career engineers are given significant ownership and exposure to complex operational challenges. Strong focus on safety, technical development, and collaboration across disciplines. Opportunities to work on high-impact projects, interact with senior leadership, and contribute to decisions affecting major assets and infrastructure.

Cons

Workloads can be demanding, and priorities can shift quickly based on operational needs. Decision-making processes can be slow due to organizational complexity, and geographic mobility may be necessary for certain career opportunities.
