Pros

Great bunch of people to work with, the work atmosphere is conducive. The engineers are a motivated set of people always ready to help others out.

Cons

The compensation could have been better, even though I was an Intern I have worked at other companies where the pay is much much higher.

Thank you for participating in Spectra Logic's intern program. Spectra's internships pay is above the industry average and you do work on significant projects that have an impact (making copies and getting coffee is not on the list). We have started a year round internship for C/S and engineering students. We found that by the time many interns that work on code get up to speed the internship is almost over. I think we have fixed this problem by utilizing interns all year. If you have specific suggestions for the intern program please let me know jeffb@spectralogic.com. Thanks.

Pros

Spectra is a diamond in the rough... Like most companies the pay or benefits might not always be the best with the industry but this company truly cares about its employees like I have never experienced before in my 23 years in the industry.

Cons

Benefit costs were a bit much, but seems to be the theme for most places of employment these days.

Pros

Spectra culture is bouncing back. If you survived the toxic hires at the upper levels the last few years, most of them are now gone. Overall things have improved dramatically and the organization is well positioned to take advantage of the strange dynamics that exist in the data storage industry today. There is a LOT of upside, and the majority of people care deeply.

Cons

There are still some pockets of resistance and some places in Spectra that can't seem to accept working on a team without having to control everything. That type of attitude is declining thankfully.
