Pros

I like SportClips a lot because they truly want the stylist at their stores to do a good job and give clients a good experience. I started working for SportClips really not knowing how to cut men’s hair and they really cared about me learning how to rather than how many. Now I’m one of the fastest cutters and I generally like all my clients.

Cons

Bi-weekly pay, and if you are in management you have to go to the bank every now and then with no gas pay. But that’s to be expected for most jobs in management

Bonusing, fun family culture, award ceremonies, fun prizes, fun parties, feel appreciated, steady client flow, reliable paycheck potential, paid trainings, no chemical services, flexible scheduling, opportunities for advancement, established brand.

Cons

Fast paced, mostly men and boys, stand all day, pressure around productivity, income varies, working weekends, holidays and evenings.

Pros

Great hourly pay with tips. Averaged about $38 to $40 an hour. Great starting place. They do offer training. The co-workers were nice at my location. Management does help you with flexible scheduling so if you have children, it works out great.

Cons

Burnout is real. Expected to complete service within an allotted short time. Too many clients come in that want expensive barbershop cuts but want to pay the lowest price (they really shouldn’t even go to sport clips for). Also, way too many clients with long hair wanting full scissor cuts. They won’t turn away clients even if the cuts they ask for are — are not something sport clips does or allows for a lot of time. TV’s get annoying after a while (too loud).
