Pros
Flexibility, independence, not many more.
Cons
I worked at Tawkify for several years. The issues start at the top, and trickle down to the entire team. First indicator of this is the very high turnover rate. After a year my hiring "class" of 10 was down to about two. The company has tons of internal issues, from a crappy interface, to a very money hungry sales team. This leads to tons of clients who are not a fit for the service being onboarded and frankly misled about the quality and availability of matches who are a "fit". There is a huge imbalance from male to female members, which leads to a lot of scarcity within the database and challenges executing matches. Matchmakers are given incentives to recruit and elicit positive reviews- which is not an entirely honest way of building a genuine review system. Clients are promised and expecting a mid-elite service but matchmakers are paid no where near a living wage for NYC or SF, the two biggest regions for Tawkify. Matchmakers are paid about $100 for a date that the client pays about $500 for. The client expects a premium service, whereas matchmakers can spend weeks screening, planning and attempting to execute dates that may be cancelled at the last moment resulting in NO pay. This is not an hourly job, you are paid per date executed which has tons of cons. There are no benefits. I was paid late often, and several times messages to customer services inquiring about my pay were ignored for weeks or never answered. I had to become meticulous in tracking my customer services requests and invoices. The team is unreliable, which leads to matchmakers not wanting to put in serious effort. Who wants to have check their pay stub every week to make sure they're being paid, only to harass their employer for their earned income!? Once pay was several weeks late for EVERYONE as somebody in finance "forgot" to re-enroll the company in their direct deposit/pay service. I was paid through Paypal a few times, only after begging for late checks. Big issues with organization. Customer services/management is hard to reach. Tons of turnover. D- BBB REVIEW SAYS IT ALL. I had a client email the customer service team for weeks about her refund- I checked with her on my last day and she had still not been refunded after over a month, so she had to take it up with her bank. I left because things felt shady...I did not want to beg for positive reviews, scour tinder and LinkedIn for dates, cold call uninterested or sketchy recruits with zero interest or investment. I write this to urge people to move on in your job search unless you were like me and had a full time commitment and limited options.
