Pros

-The people. I have stayed friends with co-workers long after they left, and after I left. If anything, working at Tekserve will at least widen your circle of friends. Sure, not everyone there is someone i'd share a drink with, but for the most part, everyone at least on the floor at Tekserve is a bit of a nerd/creative obsessive at heart and it's something we all shared. -Health benefits. I don't know if this still applies, but you are guaranteed at the very least a substantial free basic health care plan. Add-ons/upgrades are extra, of course, but the powers that be believe that an employee's right to free basic healthcare is sacrosanct. -Indoor bicycle parking is rare and awesome.

Cons

-Middlemicromanagement. Is that a real word? If not, it should be, and it should be known that Tekserve excels at it. -Pay rate for technicians is slightly below average, and it is next to impossible to negotiate raises, even after 3 or 4 years.

Pros

The biggest perk to working at Tekserve on the bottom level (as an intake specialist or cashier) is the employee pricing at company cost MINUS a small additional percentage. That is to say that every time you buy something from Tekserve, they pay for a small amount of it for you, losing money, because they realize that their employees should be able to experiment with the products.

Cons

Everyone who comes into this store is automatically furious because more often than not, their computer is broken, and if it is not they are surrounded by people who DO have broken computers. It is only human nature for them to aim that anger at you, the employee. I would say the tone of the employees in general is one of begrudging tolerance towards the job. Pay is very low for bottom level employees at an unlivable $12/hr in the middle of Manhattan.
