Pros

Co workers are nice and office snacks are good. Do not accept a salary that is less than 70k, its not worth it.

Cons

MANAGEMENT MANAGEMENT MANAGEMENT! I would avoid this company until they get their Project Management group in order. I have never worked at a company were the leadership was more out of touch with their employees and played favorites. It is very clear that if you do not brown nose your boss then you will not have any chance of raise or advancement. They are looking for mindless drones to do busy work, not to improve the way things are done. They will lie to your face and make your time miserable if you don't shut your mouth and obey. If you need a job to temporarily, this is an ok place to work, but do not plan on staying longer than 2-3 years tops.

In the '70s and '80s, the Marines ran a series of successful television commercial campaigns in which they advertised, "We're looking for a few good men." In one of these ads, they announced (to the tune of Lynn Anderson's song), "we don't promise you a rose garden; we only make one promise: we will make you a Marine." UNCOMN is not the United States Marine Corps, but we have a similar philosophy: we'll keep our standards high and our ranks small. If you want to be an uncommon genius working on cool, nationally-relevant projects and contributing to a consistently winning team, we're looking for you. Sometimes, your leader will look you in the eyes and say, "we need you in the office because the project on which you're working requires regular client interaction, teamwork, and the protection of sensitive data important to national security." Some will shrink back from this challenge, complain that those who promote are brown-nosers, move on, and leave reviews that warn others of his ilk that the standards are high. Others will roll up their sleeves, be great teammates, contribute to a winning team, and see a winner staring at them when they look in the mirror. I encourage the thoughtful reader of these reviews to consider the reviewer's feedback and ask yourself, "Is this feedback consistent with everything else I read about UNCOMN on Glassdoor and other sources, or does it read like an emotional outburst from a young man whose work ethic didn't meet the standards of a high-performing organization and thus failed to promote as quickly as he desired?" Draw your own conclusions. We're looking for a few good men and women.

Pros

Work is flexible with plenty of opportunities to train and grow. The people I work with are great and generally happy to be here. The company does well to find the right place to fit you in, leveraging your strengths.

Cons

Contractors are generally looked down on by government employees and occassionally you have to deal with some interesting personalities

Thanks for taking the time to give feedback--both pro and con. The bulk of UNCOMN's services are to government agencies. Unfortunately, the tendency you describe is an unavoidable element in most government contracting, yet we can (and should) mitigate that on our side. If you have ideas on how we can do that better, don't hesitate to stop by and let me know.

Pros

Great leadership, transparency, benefits. I had a wonderful experience working at UNCOMN for about 3 years. Top leadership genuinely care about the company/employees and, if you show interest /actually put the work in, they help you advance your career. When I talked to upper management / C-suite about my new opportunity that I was taking, they were genuinely happy for me because I thought it was good for me. They also said I always have a place there if I want to return. I give my strongest recommendation to this company.
