I have been working at VIPKID for more than a year

    Pros

VIPKID pays between $14-22 an hour, plus more in incentives some months. Most kids are fun and well behaved. You create your own schedule and work as little or much as you want. The materials are already provided, you just have to review them beforehand and plan out how you want to teach the materials and which props you want to use.

    Cons

When first starting out, some teachers have a hard time getting fully booked with students and it can take a while to make money. Hours are BJT 9am-10pm, so if you live in the US, peak time is 5am-9am EST or weekend evenings, which is not an easy time to work. Sometimes the expectations are not consistent and it is hard to figure it out at the beginning. However, there are many facebook groups you can use for support!

    Advice to Management

Keep rules consistent and have them in one place that is easy to find (Example: Do we contact firemen for no-shows, or not? This rule keeps changing).

I have been working at VIPKID

    Pros

The teaching is fairly easy and the kids are sweet. The bookings are a little irregular so I wouldn't rely on this for full-time income, especially as the company policies change semi regularly. It is ideal for me. I have a full-time job and like that with VIPKID I can work off hours (early mornings for me) and make extra money. If I were to have low bookings, I still have my full-time job. That said, I have developed...

    Cons

Bookings vary by week. Sometimes tech issues, though I've always found them to be helpful.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent with teachers that the bookings will vary. Some teachers say they don't know this. They should, but more direct communication about this will lead to happy teachers.

I have been working at VIPKID part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Easy to do from home. No commute, no child care, no savvy business clothes, no commuting in the snow, and the best part is every day is "bring your cat to work day!" My cat, Bootsie, loves my job as much as I do! No kidding, I've had parents post reviews on my cat! The kids love it! Payment is once a month. I don't mind that because then it its a big check. You know what to expect and money is in the account on time....

    Cons

You'll read that there is not enough work. I don't think that is accurate. I've been with VIPKID going on six months. My first contract is at an end. My first month I made $55.00. The next month I more than doubled that, and every month after has been going higher and higher. I am now teaching about five hours a day and making very good money for wearing pajama bottoms and an orange t-shirt. My monthly is in the four...

    Advice to Management

I have never had a problem with management. They encourage teachers to have "Meet Ups" and network. I'm going to my first one on Friday. Management offers advancement opportunities and the ability to get more certifications, which equates to more money. That is a good thing. The one negative thing you always hear about is the recruitment process. They now have meet ups in the big cities where prospective teachers can...
