Pros
- Brazilian teammates are usually cool - Some of the Americans as well - Remote work
Cons
This company used to be very good. Used to show that it cared. Used to treat their Brazilian employees very well. Used to send gifts during Brazilian holidays. Used to have local events with a lot of people invited, And then you ask, what could possibly go wrong? Well...many things! The problem started when they were hiring a lot of people nonstop. 30! 40! 50 people every single month! With the promise that if you invite someone to the company you will get 1000 dollars. So they were simply shoveling people inside the company. People with no qualification. People who didn't even knew how to speak English. They ended up having up to 666 Brazilians. And then they realized how stupid that was and laid off a LOT of people. Mostly brazilians and people from India. So they came up with the idea of "There are no QAs anymore, everybody is an Integrated Engineer now. Everybody will do everything from now on!". They said that, put all the QAs in a single team and in the beginning of the year they fired all of the QAs and more brazilians. They fired good brazilian developers and kept crappy american developers. Meanwhile, they had 2 big reorgs, simply shuffling people around the company. Sending them to work on projects or teams they didn't want to go and expected the employee to just comply and obey. That is not how things work! So even after two big layoffs, we still have many brazilians voluntarily quitting the company because of stupidity we see everyday and the amount of pressure they put on brazilians. And yes, they favor their own americans a lot over us. As for myself, I was working on a team where everybody had an amazing chemistry together. Really liked each other, liked the projects, was doing pretty well. But, for no reason, my brazilian friend and I were forcefully moved to another team, to work on another crappy project because "the director liked us too much and we are so good that we will perform the same wherever he throws us and solve all of his problems". We avoided touching the crappy project until we were obligated to work on that. So we went from "amazing devs and problem solvers" to "you are not working fast enough, here is your first shitty and unfair evaluation. now work some extra hours and compensate that". There was two positions opened on the previous team that we were, and we waited one and a half years for those positions to open. Our former boss was happy, we were happy, our previous team was happy. Everything was right for our return. Until my manager and her boss were like "no! they are ours! I will not allow them to be happy there, they have to be sad, work with crap and perform well here", and boycotted our transfer to the other team and pretended that nothing happened. They gave us the excuse that "we were not qualified to work at that team, we are only hiring the best in the marked, and your management said that you dont qualify". I literally used to work there and everybody wanted us back. Meanwhile they were transferring some Americans to our team who didn't know C# or were not even developers, just PM becoming Developers who also didn't know C#, but were friends with our boss. They think that if they pretend that nothing happened we would simply lower our heads and obey. But they don't know us brazilians at all. Don't come to this company, let them pay for their sins. I can't wait to leave this place.
