Pros
The pay check is stable. Medical Benefits are decent. Still have some "Employee Value" activities Depending on the week, work life balance is ok. There are lots of ob openings, because retention is not good. But they can't be filled because of freezes.
Cons
The pay here in most dev/it dept's. is 20-25% below what people leaving to go to other companies are making in similar positions, and sometimes even "lesser" positions. No attempt to retain employee's: an attitude of "We don't counter offer, if you're not happy enough to look other places, we don't want you anymore" This sucks for people leave who truly like working here, but can get paid way more somewhere else. Verisk's Policies are negatively affecting Xactware Customers and it's employee's, and there seems to be no attempt from upper management to defend the people working here. We might as well drop the Xactware name at this point and call our selves Verisk. Very stagnant change with management. Only progression paths are through management, but since they are entrenched, there's no opportunities for growth. Lack Luster training and employee growth investment. No incentive to perform well. Anything to stay off the "bad" radar is good enough. Bonuses are handed out by grade(e.g. A, B, C), for every high grade given, there has to be a lowest grade to match meaning few get high bonuses (A) and there is always a C on the team, even if everyone performed well. Raises are lack luster and impossible to get more than 1-2 % unless you know the right poeple Upper management seems checked out and more concerned with their standing in Verisk than how Xactware is doing. Verisk cares nothing for Xactware They are starting to implement "Watch our employees" and "We don't trust our employees" type environmental controls around access to anything. Holidays are weird/not great, 1 day for Christmas. 1 day for New years There are lots of ob openings, because retention is not good, and they can't be filled because of freezes.
