Pros

Compensation (relative to workload) was above industry peers before the layoff and budget cut.

Cons

Investment in technology and AI is not as well managed and funded compared to larger Canadian banks, despite the branding of a tech-driven digital bank. Lots of “internal practices” based on opinions of the selective few, justified by a motto of “for the size of our bank”. What worked well for the bank during the pandemic (residential mortgages) is facing challenges in today’s market, due to the economic uncertainty, it is questionable how much can be converted into new revenues for the PC Financial acquisition (mainly for access to the credit card portfolio and customer base). What drove other Canadian banks for the strong performance in 2025 and 2026 is the Capital Markets and Wealth Management, where EQB lacks.

Pros

The add up of salary & bonus could be good. Teammate are nice.

Cons

Management never being supportive, internal policy keep changing without details instruction or consideration in details. Whenever a new policy release, tons of questions from the team was never discussed. When problem occurs, management always question who is responsible for that instead of fixing the problem. Workload is heavy and they are always asking for more. A

Pros

Access to leadership Accountability to make meaningful change Opportunity to work with really smart and nice people Comp & Ben are good; you get equity as a manager which is amazing Enjoyed the culture and how nice everyone is

Cons

Very lean - trying to be a disruptor with limited resources You truly have to shine and be exceptional to get promoted; reality is if you're average, you just won't get promoted. In most other places, you can squeak by but not here. That hurts to hear, but it's what I've observed
