I have been working at Exosite full-time

    Pros

Team members care a great deal about the work they do. Employees work very hard for each other and have created some great products

    Cons

Very difficult industry (IoT) to gain market share

    Pros

Great culture, smart people, micromanagement was pretty minimal.

    Cons

The ups and downs of a startup. Funding, fitting into an expanding market that large industries are still wary of. Anecdotally, pay was lower than market rate.

I have been working at Exosite full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome people, incredibly positive and supportive CEO [rare!], genuine desire to listen to concerns and [usually] make improvements, massive potential for learning cutting-edge tech across the stack, great opportunities for working with and traveling too other offices around the world. Many skilled and passionate people creatively accelerating an emerging market to the next level, with unrelenting focus on the customer journey.

    Cons

Top-heavy org with some entrenched operatives and thinking. Pathologically difficult time delegating authority and empowering the proper people. Company has suffered serious attrition of talented mid-level leaders from this one self-inflicting problem. Desire to appear flat has lead to a very small handful of engineering-minded people bottle-necking the decision-making process, churning implementations that don't actually reflect business needs or focus.

    Advice to Management

Uproot entrenched Engineering for PROFIT and SUCCESS!

I have been working at Exosite full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Exosite hires amazing people that contribute to making the work environment very enjoyable. People here are friendly, hard working, want to help, and want to see things succeed. The flexibility of being able to work remotely as needed is definitely another pro. The culture here is unmatched from any previous job I've had and I have been here for almost two years and still can say that I enjoy coming to work each day.

    Cons

Organization structure changes seem to happen frequently

    Advice to Management

Continue to hire amazing people as well as take care of the current employees

I have been working at Exosite full-time

    Pros

I feel like I am challenged everyday! It excites me to go to work and and know my contribution is appreciated. Exosite is a growing company. You can tell though, that even with the growth, they try and keep things fun and lively. We get 20 days a year to use for personal reasons like if I'm sick, I need a day to run errands or want to go on the field trip with the kiddo. That's in addition to our vacation days! Free food, snacks and drinks galore!!

    Cons

There is room for improvement on communication.

I worked at Exosite full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Fun place to work.
    Easy to talk to people.

    Cons

    Micromanagement on all levels.
Tons of politics in the office.
Management needs learn to set proper expectations for projects so employees aren't forced to work 80 hr weeks.
Benefits are lacking when compared to the rest of the industry.

    Advice to Management

Give things a chance to work before pivoting to a different strategy.

  8. "Excellent Startup Right in the Twin Cities"

    Pros

Fun, laid back work environment. Great culture. Everyone is very friendly and wants to get to know you personally. People from completely different teams are very willing to help you out if you run into a problem they have expertise on. Product and technology are on the cutting-edge.

    Cons

Not many, really. The laid back environment seems to contribute to a lot of started but left-unfinished projects. Product needs a lot of work from a UX perspective.

    Advice to Management

Keep making great hires that are going to fit in with the culture.

Flat and open to different voices and opinions

    Cons

    Frequent reorgs
    Fuzzy roles and responsibility

    Advice to Management

    Alignment
    Focus
Weigh in multiple opinions instead of a few at high level.
