    Pros

Some amount of internal politics is there.

I worked at FL Smidth full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most of my superiors at the various new plant sites were excellent.

    Cons

I worked mostly offsite at the newly-built cement plants. I felt completely disconnected from the main office. Management provided me with very little direction. In between projects, the field engineers had to return to the main office to do mostly...nothing. The base salaries are way too low.

    Advice to Management

Allow the employees who travel 85% of the time to work from home when not on a project.

I worked at FL Smidth full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Knowledgeable staff, many resources and contacts to use to solve problems

    Cons

Took too long to get back to customers, lost many deals because of the very slow reaction time

    Advice to Management

hire more sales trained personnel, engineers do not know how to sell.

I worked at FL Smidth full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good work hours/flexibility, decent environment.
    Fair compensation.

    Cons

Terrible management: Secretive, no long term planning, panicky management, huge disconnect between employees and managers.
Lack of stability: They hire quickly and lay off even faster.
Mass layoffs are routine, so workers are always on the lookout.

    Advice to Management

Mass layoffs at the slightest sign of downturn isn't the best way to run a good company.

    Pros

    -Good work environment (laid back)
    -Good benefits and fair compensation
-Depending on the division there are many good training opportunities

    Cons

The cement industry is very cyclical and so when things are good FLS will be quick to hire new employees, but when things take a turn for the worse, they are quick to layoff.

    Advice to Management

Try to plan ahead for when business and new orders are slow the affect and need for lay offs are not as prominent.

    Pros

FLSmidth is very trusting of their employees, and very flexible as long as your work gets done, and done well.

    Cons

If you are coming into FLSmidth in an entry-level capacity, it can be difficult to be pointed in the right direction, or to stay busy with work. There is no hand-holding, you must be able to work independantly.

    Advice to Management

Offer more assistance to entry-level employees, so they may be an asset to the organization sooner.

    Cons

No locallyconstructive business/marketing plan, reactive rather than proactive, no idealists only people preserving their own castles

    Advice to Management

New management required for business to turn around and succeed
