Moving fast as a startup means a lot of change and requires flexibility

Fast growth, interesting problems, general atmosphere was pleasant and upbeat. Lots of silliness between coworkers with games/activities to keep the stress levels acceptable. Offices were comfortable, and the hardware provided was nice as well.
Cons
Management shifted around a lot, leading to confusing requirements. Sometimes items that were accepted from the client were not communicated to engineering / development, leading to back and forth on how feasible items were despite already promising the delivery.
- Current Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Good pay for a series C startup. Well funded.
Cons
There are systemic problems at FLYR right now (and for at least the past 9+ months): - The CEO does directly pressure employees to post positive reviews on Glassdoor, as a previous poster mentioned. He’s asked me and several of my teammates to do so. So take those glowing reviews with a grain of salt, and try to connect with people who have actually worked here before you consider joining. The toxicity is real. - Executive leadership has very little emotional intelligence and generally have no idea how to lead people. Which is kind of important for executive leaders to know how to do. They can’t lead people. That’s not good. - Loud voices who drink the Kool-Aid and “speak airline industry” have a disproportionate influence that suppresses a growing crew of technical talent who just want to contribute and grow. - I have never experienced a culture of micromanagement like this. It’s so ingrained in the FLYR way that you start to think it’s normal. It’s not normal, and it’s nightmarish. Starting from the CEO himself, it cascades down. If you want to feel empowered and inspired to contribute and innovate, you’ll be miserable here.

Glad I didn't let the (outdated) negative reviews scare me off
Apr 25, 2022 - Data ScientistRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Everyone across all positions that I've worked with is brilliant at their job - New leadership is committed to quality, innovation, and company culture - Very high growth, many opportunities internally and we are encouraged to transfer for our development - Whatever mistakes were made by past leadership & toxic employees are being learned from, I have not seen/heard any fighting, deceipt, or disrespect - Strong equity offers
Cons
- I was hired during the pandemic and people are spread across many geos, so onboarding & a feeling of connection to the company were lacking. This has been improving drastically in the last few months post-pandemic with employee events & new offices - 401k match is lower than larger companies
FLYR Response
