I worked at FSA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working for the federal government and potentially getting a fed job in the process

    Cons

They don't pay much at all. If you get an offer, remember to negotiate because they will try to offer you as little as possible. You won't be getting any raises either so make sure you happy with your salary. Even though they offer the ability to potentially change positions within the company, don't expect that to happen either. If you have a job that requires travel, you will not enjoy the procedure of getting your money reimbursed. The current contract doesn't offer telework so enjoy having to use vacation time when the government closes due to weather.

    Advice to Management

I would say pay your employees more but it appears you can't.

I have been working at FSA (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good 401k plan and extra benefits - i.e. life insurance plans, flex spending, etc.

    Cons

A more robust PTO policy could be offered; inclement weather policy could also be improved. Contractors tend to go to work sick due to the lack of PTO they have available and government customers are more annoyed than anything else with this policy.

I worked at FSA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good opportunity to get a leg in for future government work, or perhaps into a federal agency. Working in the field has its benefits, like flexibility and minimal supervision. My experience at FSA was positive and I do not regret working there at all. I met great people and obtained valuable experience to add to my resume. I highly recommend for those looking to transition into the government.

    Cons

Not many opportunities for growth or development, leadership positions are all centralized at the headquarters, this gives employees in the field, minimal opportunity for promotions unless they are willing to relocate. raises are only given to accommodate the cost of living expenses and inflation. Yet it does not do much to help, contract position that is at the mercy of the customer. I cannot recommend FSA as a lifelong career choice if anything this is a stepping stone towards a potential government assignment.

    Advice to Management

Create available leadership positions in the field for current employees to advance into. Have a career road map that shows what an employee can do to grow and advance within the company. Implement a structure that retains good employees rather than have them leave for government offers. Eliminate the idea this is a stepping stone for government work.

I have been working at FSA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Its a simple process once you get it down and easy to explain

    Cons

It gets boring quick. After a month or two on the phones you pretty much have a handle on everything that comes up with the odd exception here or there.

I have been working at FSA full-time

    Pros

I have recently applied to work for FSA as a Senior Financial Analyst / Investigator and have not yet actually started the position, though wanted to reflect my experiences with the hiring phase. I have had an exceptionally positive experience with the Talent Acquisition Manager who provided me with ample information on the position along with handling my various interviews and contingent offer documentation. After the contingent offer was provided to me, a 7 or 10-year background check is required, therefore, the Assistant Security Manager/AFSO was also very helpful with assisting me as needed. Thus, my experiences with the hiring phase throughout the entire process have been very positive, informative, and professional!

    Cons

The hiring process is a very long process. For me, the hiring process started in January and it's now the third week of March with my start date still unknown.

    Advice to Management

My only advice to management is to possibly reduce the hiring process timeline, otherwise, everyone that I have communicated and/or dealt with at FSA have been very kind, informative, helpful, and professional!

I worked at FSA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Laid back atmosphere compared to private sector. Many people began here and were hired as full time govt employees. You have direct access to govt workers and a ton of resources (if you are good at networking)

It's worth noting in many cases the job you are doing is the equivalent of the MAPA position in the govt, and in some cases MAPAs make close to twice as much as what you do. I place this is in the pro side because it shows how you can have great experience on your resume and excel

    Cons

If you don't flip the opportunity into a higher paying one or govt job, you are stuck. The pay for the primarily job title (REA) is relatively low for someone with a clearance. There is the possibly for promotion to 1 of only 2 other options : Training Tech or Lead, and both those positions are limited and still on the low end pay-wise

I have been working at FSA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Opportunity to work with unique clients. Little oversight so not any micro managing. Excellent work life balance. Wil never work over 40hrs per week.

    Cons

Not a lot of opportunity for advancement but this is similar to most smaller contractors.
