I have been working at FirstCity Financial full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Relaxed, flexible friendly environment. Family oriented business. Steady work, fast paced environment.

    Cons

Not much room for advancement. Until recently, raises and bonuses were sparadoic. Upper management implements changes without much thought as to the people doing the job.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at FirstCity Financial full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Team oriented. Good Benefits. Employees are encouraged to ask questions. Executives are always around and treat everyone with respect and dignity.

    Cons

The days leading up to due dates can be very long and stressful. There is a lot to manage so everyone is flying around the office, but that should be expected in this industry.

    Advice to Management

There is always a lot of talk about change but the process is so long and drawn out that many initiatives are lost along the way. These new ideas rarely seem to materialize.

I worked at FirstCity Financial full-time

    Pros

FirstCity fosters great teamwork, a friendly and down to earth staff that is understanding of your needs and goals, and you will likely develop a wide range of crucial skills and knowledge here. Career advancement is typically internal, with some exceptions. Great benefits and a wonderful HR staff.

    Cons

Occasionally in the due diligence or asset management departments you will need to stay late for meetings or to finish everything, therefore time management is critical and important.

I have been working at FirstCity Financial full-time

    Pros

Good salary and benefits. Nice people to work for in a slow paced environment.

    Cons

Company just got bought out and is in full restructure. Entry level receives little to no attention. You get bored very easily.

    Advice to Management

Improve training structure for young professionals who are looking to tart their career on a high note.
