I worked at FirstRain full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Convenient location, right off 101
    -Work with some friendly people

    Cons

    Where do I start
-Culture turned quite toxic on my way out, so much gossip from all sides of the company. Spent years not taking my vacations because the second someone took vacation, people gossiped about them not working.
-Depending on the role, everyone is either underworked or overworked.
-Management: Shifts in management seem to happen randomly, there's a lot of "managing up" at this company, leaving lower-level employees in the dust.
-Inappropriate Conduct: Despite the gender diversity within the company and management, I dealt with multiple instance of sexual harassment. One instance was handled properly, one DEFINITELY was not. There are no punishments for behavior from people that are "needed" and it will quickly turn around and bite them if they continue this double standard.

    Advice to Management

I have high hopes for the new CEO and hope she's able to turn it around. She is definitely aware of the issues brought up above, and think if anyone can turn this ship around it's her.

    Pros

flexible vacation policy, work from home options, few superstar employees

    Cons

incredibly challenging to get anything done because of lack of transparency in processes, lots of technical debt

    lots of office politics

    Advice to Management

Centralize the company in one location, fire people who aren't executing (instead of moving them around the company), focus on helping employees get things done, create clear processes, stop adding things to product: it's bloated and slow.

    I worked at FirstRain full-time

    Pros

Interesting space, however very crowded. The client base is quite good, partially due to the long history of serving big clients. A few smart people are still there, but very few

    Cons

The company is on its way out, over a half of employees were let go this year. The management proved to be useless, and drove a company into the ground. When things go bad here they go really bad, and you are left on your own.

    Pros

Location in INDIA and US, Free lunch in india office.

    Cons

Nothing as such, but it should run more nimble than what it is now.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what they are doing.

I worked at FirstRain full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some good people to work with. Slow business velocity means work life balance can be manageable depending on your role. Comp was competitive, unlimited vacation.

    Cons

Boring and quiet office, no buzz or excitement - so it has to be created artificially. Scary high turnover and even layoffs for such a small company. Micromanagement runs rampant and is reinforced by execs who think they know the best way to do your job. Product's value proposition is soft, hard to hit your number in sales. During the recruiting process they will say what you want to hear to get you to work there, leaving expectations unfilled. Free lunches? Nope. Gone, taken away. Too many better options out there in the Bay Area to settle for this.

    Advice to Management

Looks like there has been a recent change at the top, great move. Give the new CEO the autonomy necessary and freedom from the former CEO to make decisions and right the ship (my thumbs down is for the former CEO).

I worked at FirstRain full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked in the sales at FirstRain and like any nimble organization, we pull resources where we can to work done. That being said, you get transparency throughout the organization. If you know how to make a start-up environment work for you, this is a great place to be.

    Cons

None at this time, other than no more free lunches :-(

    Advice to Management

Keep up the leadership and openness.

I worked at FirstRain full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some loyal, intelligent and seasoned sales managers here. The technology had promise but has missed its window.

    Cons

Hipocracy, Nepotism, Ivory-towers, Deception, Nobody making numbers, Finger Pointing, Legacy of Failure... Firstrain acts like a poorly run large company with a shameful amount of ego considering how terrible the performance is. Heed the recent Glassdoor warnings.

    Advice to Management

Take a break from self-indulgent and misleading success articles and fix (or try to sell) this very broken company.

    No vacation policy.
    Location - near SF.
    cross-department collaboration.
    The culture.
    Company outings -- social outings

    Cons

Very political for a small company.
They did away with free lunches.
    Mgmt. thinks they know everything.
    Mgmt. changes direction often.
    Not in the city.
    Not in San Jose
Everyone thinks they can do anyone else's job better.

    Pros

Technology company on the cutting edge of delivering market, competitive and account intelligence. Highly intelligent people surround this company and you able to feed off and learn from then from many aspects from business to technology.

    Cons

Long hours which leads to some work life balance. They do apply the adage of work hard play hard though, so not a huge complaint.
