Once a great company, IDG has lost its way.

Pros

Great benefits, including training. Work-life balance is strong. Flexibility to work remotely. Great individual contributors/teams.

Cons

Wages are far below market for the industry. Even in the best times, the joke was that the way you advanced at IDG was by going to another job and getting rehired at IDG into a better role. Since the death of the founder in 2014, the company has steadily gone downhill. Upper management is completely disconnected from the work the people on the ground do, and make life-changing decisions about the company with no regard for how it will affect employees. The values Pat McGovern espoused have completely been thrown by the wayside. If you work there today, you are very much a disposable cog in the machine, and your work will be outsourced to India as soon as convenient.

Pros

-Many co-workers are good people both inside and outside of the office.

Cons

-Underwhelming pay. -Decentralized structure is a huge weak point because too many managers are focused on how they're getting along with other team leaders vs. focusing on clients' needs. -Too many "lifers" are still present, which means cliques, stale ideas and fresh talent not taken seriously enough. (This goes for those within the marketing/sales, editorial and HR divisions.) -Too many internal projects deemed as "favors" for other teams take away from workers' ability to focus solely on client needs. -Not enough focus on fresh perspectives and smart usage of new media, which means IDG has lost out to many other publishers and agencies.

Pros

None! Honestly can't think of none. Extemely unprofessional!

Cons

Where should i start??? everything about this poor excuse of a company is a joke. Doesn't even deserve the 1 star. Too many discriminatory practices to mention here. Terrible hostile work environment...company fosters negative clicques although they pretend they dont they actually encourage it...its part of their culture. Psychopaths in managment roles, no morals, no ethics etc..HR is completely useless and are bullies themselves which is why they condone this disgusting behaviour. You run a very bad operation where people are treated poorly unless they are willing to play the nasty office politics and kiss up game. Extemely lucky they haven't been sued.
