Thank you for this feedback. We're constantly striving to improve as an employer, so this type of candid feedback is valued and appreciated. In the early days of FullStack when we were small and didn't have an operations team, we would sometimes forget to perform annual reviews. However, in 2018 we built an operations team and annual compensation reviews are now performed for each employee. We still don't do annual "performance reviews" as we prefer for this to be an ongoing conversation, as opposed to discussing it once per year. But we do now have annual compensation reviews for all employees. We benchmark our salary ranges against GlassDoor and Dice, and on average, we pay above market rates. Once you factor in overtime pay and profit sharing, most employees end up in the 90th salary percentile for their job title + years of experience. We bill our clients by the hour, so it’s important for our developers to properly track their time, so that we’re able to correctly invoice our clients. We use Toggl integrated with Jira to do this, and we try to make it as seamless as possible. One advantage of time tracking for employees is that it allows us to pay over time. If employees work more than 40 hours per week, they receive overtime pay for each additional hour worked. For many employees this adds up to tens of thousands of dollars in extra pay over the course of the year. Alternatively, employees are also allowed to bank these over time hours and take additional time off at a future date, instead of taking a bonus. We consistently hear from employees that this is one of their favorite perks. For employees who don’t work the required number of hours (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week) they may feel like they are being micromanaged. But we feel this criticism is unfair. We make it clear in our interviews and our offer letters that you are accepting a full time position if you come to work at FullStack. So if you consistently only work 30 hours per week (or less), your manager will check in with you and see what they can do to help you get in full work days.

Pros

Remote work, there was a couple of paid happy hours remotely.

Cons

Provide your own equipment. The CEO is invasive and condescending. He pushes blame on all his staff including the management even when he is the issue. There is zero structure amongst the departments.

Pros

Great benefits and salary. You also have bonus pay if you're salaried. Hours are pretty flexible, and working remote is great. Back in March 2020 when covid was becoming a huge concern, they made sure we were doing ok financially. They also ensured that our jobs aren't at risk and we won't need to worry. They have high standards. Everything down to the pixel needs to be perfect, (this is how they get huge clients). You'll notice that these high standards push you to become a better developer. They have some extremely talented developers, and you learn a lot from them. If you're stuck on something, you're able to ask the entire FullStack Labs team for help, not just your project team. Employees are treated very well, especially the ones who take high ownership of their work. If your clients are happy, and the team is happy with your work, you'll be publicly recognized for your work.

Cons

Time tracking feels very tedious. It takes a while to get in the habit of it. In the end, it's how they bill clients to pay you. If you fail to take ownership of your work, expect your managers to get involved. This ties in with their high standards, everything turned into a client must be perfect. If you have trouble doing that, you'll be stressed working here but they give you plenty of chances to improve. After some time, these cons weren't an issue anymore, you just need to adjust to it.
