I worked at GMA Network full-time

    Pros

Really easy to get along with the people
Good bonuses depending on the TV ratings

    Cons

extra 2 hours everyday while on your 6-month probation
relatively low pay for the work that you do but depends on the department you get into

    Negative Outlook

I worked at GMA Network full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

*Great for self-starters, and highly motivated, idealistic fresh graduates.
*Flexible time and occasional work perks like freebies are the only thing that worked for me in my decade long practice in that station.
*Depending on the department, company culture is laid back

    Cons

    TRAINING is very limited.
You pretty much have to learn everything on your own. Imagine a puppy thrown in a sea of sharks, you have to pretty much grasp and learn multiple things to survive
Unless you apply for a regular position, you will not get the PTO, Medical benefits, and retirement.
If you are assigned in production- having a thick skin is imperative. Otherwise you will be eaten alive especially if you are unable to deliver

    Advice to Management

Your core values such as "we believe our people is our best asset" is a LOAD of crap. I've experienced seeing a colleague assigned in a dangerous location and didn't even receive any compensation.
Another one, actually DIED in the line of duty and two months after the poor family didn't even receive immediate compensation.

I worked at GMA Network full-time

    Pros

The culture is very warm and friendly. You'll definitely stay because workmates really help each other. You'll also be a part of and know what happens behind the TV shows you love. If you're into seeing celebrities, then it's jackpot for you.

    Cons

You'll be given lots of tasks. More than one should handle and more than what is in the job description. Lots of it are spill over jobs that other overloaded departments or workmates and supervisors can't handle. The pay is low compared to the responsibilities. No career development at all despite consistently having high ratings from supervisors. No seminars for employee improvement.

    Advice to Management

Make plans for employees to improve and develop careers.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at GMA Network full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

IT Management is approachable and team leads will treat you like a family, diversified IT teams are friends and almost everyone is approachable.

Lots of benefits other than 13th month pay, there is also a family day, dental, mid year bonuses rice allowance, etc. There was also a time that there were even more bonuses than what is currently in placed.

A lot of room to learn new technologies, adoption rate is relatively high, and openness of management to IT changes are great as long as it is in the reasonable budget.

Work in a well known company (since part of their business is to be known.)

    Cons

Low basic / below average pay, pay is mostly the reason that colleagues leave the company and at times have a high turnover rate.

IT structure needs to be managed, most IT people are doing multiple roles to the point that it is no longer manageable and the official responsibilities are endangered, management should not micro manage and trust the judgement of their designated leaders.

Career ladder is almost non existent, you cannot envision your career moving forward since even your leads are not progressing even if top management changes, sometimes vacant position are depreciated.

    Advice to Management

Please listen to your people, talented people are leaving and most of the reason is not just the pay, those left behind suffer the work load turned over to them.
