Pros

Garland Technology has some genuinely good people, and it’s not a bad place to cut your teeth if you want to break into cybersecurity sales. The money can be good, but it’s very inconsistent, tied to long sales cycles that make it feel like feast or famine.

Cons

My personal experience wasn’t great. When my wife had a baby, the company only offered unpaid leave. If I could afford that, I wouldn't work... Day-to-day, I dealt with constant micromanaging and internal resource juggling, which left me feeling like I was on an island without real tech sales support. They also made me come into the office, where there were ZERO other salespeople to collaborate with. Ironically, after I resigned, they decided to offer remote work.

Pros

The product is great and solves a need for visibility. The CEO is good, and the direction of the company seems to be heading the right way. Recently, they have done a great job in weeding out the negative attitudes, and hopefully implementing better processes. There were/are a few good people there, but the negativity of some made it tough.

Cons

Main con, and why I left, is the Sales Manager. Constant micromanaging and zero trust in true sales professionals. Was more worried about your out of office being updated in your calendar than he was about creating a sales process or building relationships and trust with customers and tech partners. Not to mention that the Sales Manager had ZERO sales experience. The good news, is that he is no longer there. Policy of traveling "not during business hours" is not ideal for anyone with a family. Would make people travel on Sundays, or after 5pm. While that might not be a con for some, working in the office 100% of the time and having a family, it took the work/life balance away. RSMs have laptops and can work anywhere, but can't work at home if a kid is sick, you must take PTO. Training, from day 1 it is expected to start cold calling and selling the product. It would help any sales professional to know what the products are instead of trying to figure it out. I have not run across any customer that would buy something that you when you can't tell them what it is. Not a ton of room to grow, but that's because its a smaller company. There could be career opportunities, but they would need to grow in size.
