I worked at Gehry Technologies full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Incredible, exciting projects, and very talented people. They provide an environment where you will work on a great variety of different projects with new challenges for every project. Depending on which director you work for you may have a great deal of freedom as to how you would like to contribute to the company.

    Cons

Management is a bit lost. They constantly change directions and CEO's. Now they have been acquired by Trimble who is not a services company and they do not know what direction they are going to take the company, and if they do have a direction they do not communicate it to everyone. There is no big vision for the company. It is very difficult to get upper management to respond to you as an employee. They never do reviews even thought they say they will do them. It is up to you as an employee to go to upper management to try to negotiate a raise, even a simple cost of living raise. No career path. No mentorship to build someone up to the next level. There really is no next level. You work on projects and you never know what direction your career is moving.

    Advice to Management

Management should build a better culture between high levels and low levels of employees to better understand what the employees are doing and if they are happy. Upper management only relies on the immediate supervisor of an employee to understand if they are happy. Where many times employees feel they can not speak out if they are not happy with their supervisor. There is no way to review your supervisor, therefore if you are unhappy your only choice is to get a new job. Many people leave because they feel this way, and they feel there is not upward path in the company.
