I worked at Gucci full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Wonderful company. They truly care about the employees. The compensation is competitive.

    Cons

Several changes with executive management. Executives rarely talk or listen to employees; whom are working directly with the customer, to hear the client concerns.

    Advice to Management

I would take the clients concerns seriously; which would require getting a consensus from sales staff and junior management. Enough with the "tradition", "classics, and "Heritage". Create the "New Classics" and target the affluent millennial.

I have been working at Gucci full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great & storied brand. New head of creative is taking it in a...unique direction. Time will tell how his unique design direction will translate into year-over-year long term sales growth.

With a few exceptions, the majority of associates are dedicated and truly good, caring people who want to work as a collaborative team. People want to help you succeed. I'd say the people are the best part of working here.

Generous vacation time offered (see below - it's tough to actually use).

    Cons

Many, many demands placed on associates. While employer demands are certainly to be expected, it's become exhaustingly excessive to the point where salaried workers routinely work extra long days, on their days off and / or vacation time just to keep up.
Work / life balance toughest it's ever been.
Most divisions are stretched so thin so as to make it harder for everyone else to do their job. I have seen more people leave in the past year and a half due to the unmanageable workload.

Little expression of appreciation whether you work 60 hrs a week or 40 hrs a week. If you are not self-motivated, forget it.

Goals set unrealistically high for hopes of a bonus. It's great to strive and aim high, but the goals should be attainable.

    Advice to Management

Not replacing all the people that leave places an undue burden on those that remain. If times are tough & one must shrink payroll, make adjustments in the demands on surviving associates or you may lose more dedicated people.

Love the company but right now, I couldn't honestly recommend it, at least in my area. Maybe other areas are better, but from what I hear, it's like this in most divisions.

Showing appreciation goes a long way toward making people want to give you 110% 24/7.

    Pros

Great Benefits and discount. Prestigious history gives you a sense of pride for craftmanship of merchandise. Awesome incentives.

    Cons

Cant really think of any except be prepared for exhausting holiday time. But not necessarily a con since you'll be banking huge commission checks.

    Advice to Management

Treat ur staff as you'd like to be treated yourself. Be fair and listen to cristisms with an optomistic ear.

    Pros

Company-wide discount, benefits, wardrobe is provided to you (gucci mandated uniform for that season made in Bulgaria vs Italy for regular gucci clothes) however gucci shoes provided are made in Italy.

    Cons

Unfortunately I worked for Gucci at Saks when they were trying to re-brand themselves by putting Gucci employees to sell there. This created a high-conflict environment as Saks employees are commission-based only. It was not well thought out in this sense. There was a great deal of tension between Saks and Gucci employees.

    Advice to Management

Don't ever create a boutique within a department store again. It's just silly. When you walk into a dept store you go to buy from all the brands not just Gucci or another designer. It sets your staff up for failure as they can only sell one brand in an array of choices at a dept store. If they want your brand only they will walk into a Gucci store.
