I have been working at Hannon Hill full-time

    Pros

    - Lots of focus on professional development - Coworkers are fantastic - Solid perks (team events, 2 catered lunches/week, stocked kitchen with snacks and beverages, MARTA reimbursement, good employee benefit stipend, birthday and anniversary gifts) - Transparent across all departments (you can join any slack channel you want, different teams host company meetings each week and you can ask anything then or at any point...

    Cons

    - Given a lot of autonomy in all roles. This isn't a negative for most (or me), but employees do need to be comfortable in asking for what they need and knowing how they learn/work best. - Medical coverage isn't fully paid for on family plans - Smaller company, so you need to learn to develop within your own position and team. There isn't a straight career path imposed on any role, so your own drive and interests...

    Pros

LOCATION. ATV is a swank place to work. Very cool industrial vibe, free snacks, full of young, smart startups. I even saw TV/movie filming there a few times. Earlier versions were rough but Cascade 8 is a solid product for the right audience. Great benefits for single people without families.

    Cons

Toxic company culture but with a weird, almost cult-like false positivity glazed on top. Seriously stepford-esque. CEO had massive issues with sales. Not surprised to see her blog posts about sales complaints being meaningless since she used to say all you needed to sell was to make more cold calls first thing in the morning and that product features/functionality/higher pricing over competition/etc had no impact....

    Advice to Management

Don't just listen to what you want to hear. There's a reason so many people left in 2016-2017 and it wasn't because they were lazy or dumb or couldn't do good work.

I worked at Hannon Hill full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The biggest pros are disciplined freedom and support. Hannon Hill gives an incredible amount of freedom to get your work done in your way and a great amount of support. As long as you are meeting your goals, milestones, and expectations, Hannon Hill treats you like a responsible adult. (That is not to say the opposite is true, so don't read into that.) They offer a great amount of support as well, both personally and...

    Cons

One of the cons, to me personally, is that at times it can feel there is too much collaboration. Receiving help from other departments is great and having multiple departments work together is awesome, and this should be encouraged and celebrated. But that doesn't mean that other departments should perform your job responsibilities in the name of helping the client. Also, I wouldn't see Hannon Hill as a place to make...

    Advice to Management

I worked for Hannon Hill for almost 5 years. I was around for every employee that has posted reviews on this site, both positive and negative. It took a few years to really start to understand the pros and cons of working for the company. People always talked about this idea of "rockstars" and how you are more interested in them than other types of employees. And I think that's true. But it's not hard to seem like...

    Pros

*EXCELLENT work/life balance *LOTS of perks (food/beverage, foosball, pinball, company outings, employee benefits, you name it) *Coworkers that feel like family *The CEO (and everybody!) wants you to succeed/learn/grow *A cool office space that is about to get even better *They will literally give you all the tools you need to succeed. Just ask! *Have you heard of a TreadDesk? They have one of those, too.

    Cons

    They don't have sleeping pods.

I have been working at Hannon Hill full-time for more than a year

    Pros

When people ask me what I like about working at Hannon Hill, I always start with the people. Hannon Hill fosters a positive work environment, and everyone here is passionate about their work, believes in our products and encourages collaboration. Ideas flow freely between departments and company leadership, and my teammates never fail to contribute to cross-functional projects. Hannon Hill is very picky in who we hire,...

    Cons

Working in a smaller company like Hannon Hill means that there is no pre-set career path. While I see the flat organizational structure as a positive (for example, I can have my ideas heard by the CEO any day of the week), someone who is looking for a more structured job with a pre-determined path up the corporate ladder may prefer a different type of structure, like in a larger more layered organization.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be thought leaders in the content management and content marketing industries as well as in higher education and government. Keep making yourselves accessible to all employees and making the office a fun place to work!

I worked at Hannon Hill full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Hannon Hill is owned by David Cummings (David is now the Chairman of HH and the CEO is now Kat Liendgens) who is a really smart guy that owns a few companies, startups, and has his hand in several other investments. David started HH while he was still a student at Duke and has grown the company revenue YOY ever since it's inception. He believes in creating an unparalleled culture, and HH is evidence of that. Kat has done...

The CMS market doesn't look like it's going to allow for huge jumps in growth since it's a mature market, so if you're in sales that's something to be aware of. But then again, Spectate is their new product that's designed to give the company more accelerated growth. Also, the company/management gives a lot of praise. If you're not into praise, you won't like working there. I personally didn't have a problem with...

    Advice to Management

Keep staying agile with moves to spur growth and continue to treat employees as well as you currently do. Keep listening to your employees as well; if they want more constructive criticism, provide it. Overall, I wish more companies could have a cultural mindset like Hannon Hill; the environment they have breaks down a lot of performance barriers for employees and life is good at a place like that.

I have been working at Hannon Hill

    Pros

Hannon Hill is a pretty laid-back place to work, you get telecommute days and unlimited flex (although taking it is another matter).

    Cons

Way too focused on giving praise and very parsimonious when it comes to compensation. The new leadership pinches every penny and is obcessed with maintaining a "positive culture" ie - clap for people doing their jobs and refuse to allow criticism / feedback.

    Advice to Management

Improve compensation, and stop singling out and punishing employees you think are "being negative" - you're only making everyone want to leave and you don't really have enough employees to bear that. Also, some of your "rockstars" treat everyone poorly and it's aggravating to watch you ignore them being condescending to everyone while saying we need to maintain a positive culture.

I worked at Hannon Hill full-time

    Pros

All team members facilitate an environment that encourages creativity, risk taking and autonomy. The vacation policy is, literally, unlimited, which indicates that meaningful results for customers is what matters rather than restrictive/dated HR practices.

    Cons

Enterprise sales can result in long sales cycles where the feedback loop and ability to adjust to changing conditions. This results in the business having to be more conservative with investment/cashflow decisions.

    Advice to Management

Repackage Cascade Server for SaaS. It's a great product, because it offers flexibility and control that marketers need. Technology budgets have and will continue to shift away from IT toward sales and marketing. SaaS is a great way to empower those buyers.

I have been working at Hannon Hill

    Pros

Voluntary telecommute days, office location, free snacks and food, unlimited vacation time, macbooks, cool coworkers, pinball machine, ping pong table

    Cons

Incompetent/inept management, bad salaries, hateful/negative management attitude, belief in "rockstars" rather than "results", overpraise to undeserved coworkers, abysmal new employees

    Advice to Management

Compensate your employees fairly, understand which employees actually cause problems, adjust hateful/negative rhetoric toward your employees, actions are very hypocritical
