Pros

Nice offices, simple record keeping procedures, easy access to basic training materials

Cons

This company consistently hires W-2 employees and does not send them enough referrals to build a caseload in a fee for service format. Currently, employees are leaving droves because they cannot survive. The company takes 60-80% of a clinician’s billing rate and then tells them to market themselves. Company often tries to pass off administrative tasks to clinicians to compensate for making less than minimum wage.

I, too, hate email communication. If anyone has a better way to address over 100 employees located across the country, simultaneously, while also keeping in mind the needs of neurodivergent clinicians for whom things like Slack and work text threads can be overwhelming, overstimulating, and ineffective, I’m all ears. We do offer ways for beginning clinicians to offset their desired income discrepancy through working with our admin, creative, and/or tech teams as their caseload builds if they so choose. Not everyone wants a side gig when they are starting in the field, so we try to assist where we can.

Pros

Good location for in-person office space

Cons

Lack of support from supervisors, tone-deaf managers and group supervision. Did not account for the emotional stress and burden of the limited permit holders. Made fake promises during the interview process and failed to follow through on all of them constantly. The upper management is terrible at engaging with the employees (especially limited permit holders), and do not cater to their needs (both financially and professionally). It felt like we were "lured" under the pretense of being a full caseload within 3 months of employment, and I was not even at 5 clients per week after 5 months of employment with the practice. Kept making different rules and regulations without considering employment benefits and convenience. When bringing up the concerns of lack of caseload with the supervisors and managers, a very standard answer of "this is what everyone has to go through in the journey of getting a license" was given, which felt disrespectful, distant and neglectful.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear that your time at Humantold felt disappointing and that you left feeling unsupported. That’s never the experience we hope for our employees, and we take your feedback seriously. We want to share a bit more context, not to negate your experience but to be transparent about how we try to support every clinician—especially those just starting out. Our team invests significant time in providing personalized guidance, proven strategies for increasing bookings, and the infrastructure necessary to help clinicians build a sustainable caseload. That said, we’ve also seen that private practice is not always the right fit for every clinician. Sometimes, despite a clinician’s effort, clients do not choose to work with them—even with our best support. Other times, the clinician may not take the necessary steps to engage in the process, which can delay caseload growth. This work is deeply human, and that can mean unpredictable outcomes despite everyone’s best intentions. We’re continually refining how we train and mentor our team, and your reflections will inform that process. We wish you nothing but the best in your continued professional journey.

This reads like someone who felt on the outside. That feels terrible and I’m sorry you felt that way. All I can say is that we do not have any secret insiders club.
